Maintenance
We believe that maintenance lies at the top of the EPA triangle of sustainability. It is the most proactive approach to limiting long term, negative environmental impact. By protecting our flooring investments with a socially responsible maintenance program we reduce the need to pull from raw materials. Our commitment to sustainability begins with conserving raw materials and stems to our ability to reuse and recycle them.
Sustainable Interiors uses a dry encapsulation method to clean and maintain carpet. This method uses crystallizing polymers that, when worked into the fibers of the carpet, break down and encapsulate soil. Soil can then be removed by regular vacuuming. These particles so effectively surround soil that no dirt attracting residue is left behind, resulting in carpet that stays cleaner for a longer period of time.
In opposition to the more popular hot water extraction method, dry encapsulation uses very little water. Not only does this conserve innumerable gallons of water, it prevents wicking and potential growth of harmful bacteria associated with extended dry times. This also promotes healthy indoor air quality. Because of this low moisture approach, carpet is presented ready for near immediate use after cleaning.
All of the chemicals used in our maintenance program are naturally derived. They can be inhaled, handled and poured down the drain without consequence to ourselves or our ecosystem. In our dedication to minimizing environmental impact we do not compromise when it comes to the performance of our products. We strongly believe that our sustainable system outperforms less responsible methods.
Sustainable floors will analyze your flooring needs and help you develop a customized maintenance program to optimize the appearance and useful life of your flooring investment.
