Sustainability

Many people today associate sustainability with recycling. They think sustainability means throwing a few pop cans in the blue bin at work when in fact it is much larger than that. Sustainability means balancing the needs of today with the prospects for the same—or better—quality of life for tomorrow's generations.

With a growing world population and a rapidly expanding global economy, significant stress will be placed on the earth's resources and our ability to maintain or improve environmental quality. The challenge is to prevent or mitigate the negative consequences that can come with growth, while ensuring continual improvement in environmental quality, human health protection, and the global standard of living.

Holistic sustainability is meeting basic environmental, economic, and social needs now and in the future without undermining the natural systems upon which life depends. As Sustainable leaders, we like to build upon this definition by including every substantial issue that impacts the long term health of culture. Issues like education, moral decline, and the definition of the family all need to be answered if we are really going to build a better planet.

To progress in finding solutions for our environmental and cultural challenges, we need to get to the root of the problem – Selfishness. Our individual "rights" can never outweigh what is RIGHT. Sustainable Interiors is not only committed to reducing the negative footprint, but also to establishing and re-establishing what is RIGHT for our environment and for our culture.

At Sustainable Interiors, we embody holistic sustainability and it is a part of everything we do. To us, sustainability is not just a catch phrase, it is in our DNA.
